Rembrandt van Rijn was born on 15 April 1606, death on 4 May 1669, was a Dutch draughtsman, painter, and printmaker. He is generally considered one of the greatest visual artists in the history of art. His etchings and paintings were popular throughout his lifetime, and gave rise to important new genres in painting. becoming the model for many painters to come.

Yet his etchings and paintings were popular throughout his lifetime, his reputation as an artist remained high, and for twenty years he taught many important Dutch painter.
